It’s been a long time since Aamir Khan expressed his disbelief in these award ceremonies and functions which are held throughout the year and hold no value. The ‘Dangal’ star has always maintained that how undeserving actors walk away with the coveted trophies and how inconsistent some awards can be. He is one of the biggest Bollywood stars who is consistently missing from award functions and believes that his biggest award is when audiences accept his movies and appreciate his performances.
Akshay Kumar
One of the favourite of the masses, Akshay Kumar too is a part of the ‘no award’ list who some time back received an award but returned it back believing that he didn’t deserve it. Since then the ‘Khiladi Kumar’ has announced to keep himself away from these awards. The actor though has claimed that many award organizers have offered to give him an award on the pretext that he performs at the award function for free but he believed in getting paid for his performance rather than taking home an award.
Ajay Devgn
Actor Ajay Devgn who has been in the Bollywood industry for over 25 years now also is not for awards. The two times he bagged a Filmfare award was for his debut film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ where he walked away with the Best Debutant award and the second time he received it was for his negative role in ‘Deewangi’ in 2002. The actor announced a decade ago that he doesn’t believe in these awards which are nothing less than a sham.
Kangana Ranaut
Surprisingly actress Kangana Ranaut is the only popular actress in this list who has said no to awards. The ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ actress has categorically stated many times that she doesn’t believe in the awards system and prefers to stay away from them. She believes that most of the times a lot of lobbying and rigging goes on behind the scenes before award functions are held.
John Abraham
Bollywood hunk, John Abraham has been in Bollywood for nearly 15 years and has been added to the list of star celebrities who have said ‘no’ to awards. John though has been nominated a few times in Filmfare’s ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Supporting Actor’ categories but always said that they are circus acts. Not the case of sour grapes, but the ‘Dishoom’ star believes awards are not for him.
Ram Gopal Varma
The maverick director who gave us films like ‘Shiva’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Bhoot’ and ‘Satya’ just doesn’t believe in awards. Though Ram Gopal Varma has been off colour for a few years delivering duds but he’s a guy who minces no words and maintains that award functions are nothing but fake shows.
Vishal Bhardwaj
Music composer cum director, Vishal Bhardwaj off late was quoted saying during an interview that he has no respect left for the popular awards as he has stopped attending them.
Aditya Chopra
The flagbearer of Yash Raj Films, producer and director Aditya Chopra has always been media shy and kept himself away from the limelight. Adi (as he is lovingly called) has appeared just once at the Filmfare awards in 1996 when his film ‘DDLJ’ walked away with almost all the popular awards that year. Since then the media shy producer-director has never appeared at any awards night and doesn’t believe in these so called awards.
Emraan Hashmi
Surprisingly actor Emraan Hashmi too stays away from these awards function since first appearing on screen with ‘Footpath’ in 2003. Though the actor has been nominated a few times in different acting categories for his performances but has always maintained a distance from all these awards nights and functions for the last 12-13 years.
Naseeruddin Shah
The veteran actor par excellence, Naseeruddin Shah who has won a few National and Filmfare award trophies for films like ‘Aakrosh’, ‘Chakra’, ‘Masoom’, ‘Sparsh’ and ‘Paar’ in the 80’s, now finds these awards function nothing but a joke. He believes that these awards have lost its credibility and value as it makes a mockery of the artists who believe that awards are everything that an actor needs to survive.

The actor turned politician, Paresh Rawal is another seasoned Bollywood celebrity who stays away from award nights. Though the brilliant actor is seldom seen in films due to his commitment to his constituency in Gujarat, he has always maintained that no award can equate to an actor's performance.

One of Bollywood’s most popular actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the latest entrant to the ‘no awards please’ list. The actor with unconventional looks who left a mark in films like ‘Raees’, ‘Haraamkhor’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Kick’, has often stated that he is not for awards.
