The Serengeti (or Serengueti) ecosystem is a geographic region in East Africa, northern Tanzania and south-west Kenya, between latitudes 1 S and 3 S and longitudes 34 E and 36 E, covering about 30000 km2.
The Serengeti hosts the world's largest animal mammal migration, one of the wonders of the natural world.
In the region is the Serengeti National Park and several game reserves. The word "Serengeti" comes from the Maasai language, in which "Serengit" means "endless plains."
