Elephants are herbivorous animals, feeding on grasses, grasses, fruits and leaves of trees. Given its size, an adult elephant can ingest between 70 and 150 kg of food per day. Females live in herds of 10 to 15 animals, led by a matriarch, composed of several breeders and pups of various ages. The gestation period of the females is long (20 to 22 months), as well as the development of the animal that takes years to reach the adult age. The puppies can be born with 90 kg. Adolescent males tend to live in small flocks and isolated adult males, meeting females only in the reproductive period.

The study of the interaction between male hippopotami and female hippopotamus has always been complicated because it is a species without sexual dimorphism; thus females and young males are practically indistinguishable in the field. Although the hippos live in groups, it seems that they do not establish any social ties except between mothers and daughters, reason why they are not social animals. The reason why they come together is unknown.
