The gnu is a large ungulate mammal of the genus Connochaetes, which includes two species, both native to the African continent. It is also known as ox-horse (and, in Mozambique, cocone). There are two species of wildebeest: the white-tailed gnu (Connochaetes gnou) and the black-tailed gnu (Connochaetes taurinus).
The wildebeest belong to the bovine family (Bovidae), which includes cattle, goats, buffaloes, antelope and other ungulate mammals. They can run up to 80 km / h to escape predators. Already in defense of the creature, as instinct, the gnu mother, in fury, is able to face leopards, hyenas and even lions, with their horns and kicks. The gestation is in average of 260 days, being born only a baby. They live in large herds, and graze the savannas. Its height is around 1.50 to 2.50 meters, and weigh an average of 250 kilos. Gnus live on average only 20 years, although it is possible to reach even 40 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnu
