The sea crocodile, saltwater crocodile or crocodile-porous (Crocodylus porosus) is the largest reptile in existence today and can be extremely dangerous for man. Its distribution extends across the Indian and Pacific Oceans, from the east coast of India, Bangladesh (Ganges Delta mangroves), Myanmar and Thailand to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and most of the Indonesian islands off the coast of Vietnam the Solomon Islands and the Philippines, being more common in Northern Australia and New Guinea (as shown in the map below). This crocodile inhabits rivers and estuaries, but, as the name implies, it can also be found in coastal open sea areas.
